Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites – Sunscreen Edition

It’s Friday, hooray! Since most schools are on break now and we all have summer on the brain, I thought it is a perfect time to chat about sunscreen. So I’ve invited my dear friend Steph Zeller back to talk about her favorites. This lady has tried them all…she’s a sunscreen guru!!

I appreciate Neko having me back to share my favorites on a topic that has become near and dear to me, sunscreen. I’m a bit of a sunscreen fanatic. Over the past 10 years, I’ve had six Mohs Surgeries for skin cancer. So far, I’ve been lucky and everything has been able to be cut out without further treatment. Sun cancer does not necessarily run in my family, but I do have fair skin and freckles. As far as sunscreens go; if it’s out there, I’ve probably tried it. Some are good, some bad, and some are just ok. Below are my favorites in each category. If you have any questions, reach out and I’m happy to give you my review if I’ve tried it.

#1

Bible Verse I am loving right now: Romans 15:13

Favorite Daily Moisturizer with SPF: Paula’s Choice Super-Light Wrinkle Defense, SPF 30

This moisturizer is exactly what it says; super lightweight and provides great daily coverage. I wear this every day under my makeup. You can buy it here.

#3

Favorite Face Sunscreen: Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Tinted Face Mineral Lotion, SPF 50

I love this because it is tinted. If I am planning on spending the day in the sun, I’m probably not wearing much makeup, so this provides just a little coverage to help my skin out. If I do want to wear foundation, it layers nicely underneath and acts as a primer. It isn’t greasy at all and provides good protection. You can buy it here.

Favorite Spray Sunscreen: Alba Botanica Coconut Oil Hawaiian Clear Spray, SPF 50

I just really like the way this sunscreen feels on my skin, but more importantly, it works on my kid’s sensitive skin. Both of my kiddos break out in a rash with many spray sunscreens, but not this one. We swim, boat, and play sports in this and it lasts just as well as anything else. (Helpful hint: value packs of this can be found at Costco and Target – the lotion that is included in the value pack is solid as well). You can buy it here.

Favorite Lotion Sunscreens

For the Kids – Neutrogena Beach Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Body Lotion – SPF 50

This rubs in really well, provides good coverage, and lasts a long time. I can’t ask for much more from my sunscreen. You can buy it here.

Neutrogena Beach Defense Water Resistant Sunscreen Body Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 70, Oil-Free and Fast-Absorbing, 6.7 oz

For me – Hawaiian Tropic Antioxidant Lotion – SPF 50

This doesn’t leave a white cast, it smells amazing, and provides good coverage. It feels “thin” on the skin so even if I layer it throughout the day, it doesn’t feel like I’m caked with sunscreen. It also doesn’t dry my skin out. You can buy it here.

Hawaiian Tropic AntiOxidant+ Sunscreen Lotion, Lightweight Sun Protection, Broad Spectrum, SPF 50, 6 Ounces

Favorite Sunscreen for the Lips: Sun Bum Lip Balm, SPF 30

PLEASE don’t forget lip SPF, it’s important!!! I struggled for years to find something I loved, then I found this. Key Lime is my favorite flavor, Mango is a close second. It doesn’t leave the weird after taste that most lip balms with SPF leave…I can’t explain it, but give this lip balm a try, it’s amazing! You can buy it here.

Favorite Back-Up: Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Spray, SPF 50

Let’s be real, there are a million sunscreens out there. I’ve listed my favorites above, but I can’t leave this spray out. This is what we keep in the boat, car, golf bags, baseball bags, etc. If we happen to forget our favorites or if we just need to grab something quick, this is always there as our back up. You can buy it here.

I cannot stress the importance of wearing sunscreen. I hope you find these suggestions helpful. If you have a favorite leave a comment and let me know what it is, I’m always looking for good recommendations. Enjoy the summer!

And there you have it, Steph’s Friday Favorites – Sunscreen Edition! I have some sunscreen shopping to do! Happy Friday everyone!

Until Next Time,

Neko (and Steph!)
