10 Prayers For My Kids

I have a million prayers for my three kiddos, but I chose my favorite ten to share with you today. Enjoy!

#1

I pray that my kids will always continue to grow in their faith.

We can only do so much for our children. When they leave the house it is their responsibility to live out their faith in the way they want. I hope they always hold Jesus close to their heart and lean on Him at all times. Faith first, family second, friends third.

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26

#2

I pray that my kids would find love and stay in love.

Anyone can get married, but not everyone who is married stays in love. I hope that my relationship with their dad is a positive example for them. Every day I feel like the luckiest woman alive that he chose me almost twenty years ago.

As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Ephesians 5:31

#3

I pray that my kids are always kind and compassionate to all people.

All three of my kids have kind hearts and I hope this always remains the case. Life is too short to be anything but kind to others. Let your light shine, kids!

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. Proverbs 3:3-4

#4

I pray that my kids will have close friends that they can share their lives with and have deep connections.

It’s easy to fill your time with things, but God created us all for human interaction and I hope they find faith-filled people to surround themselves with.

Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared. Proverbs 22:24-25

#5

I pray that my kids will always follow their dreams.

I want my kids to do what they love and love what they do. I pray they will discover the gifts God created especially for them. Whatever they do, I hope they do it with passion and love.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

#6

I pray that my kids will be lifelong learners.

Maybe they will choose to read a book instead of watching tv or scrolling through social media (at least occasionally). Perhaps they will love to learn a new craft, research an idea, listen to podcasts, or attend bible studies. Anything to keep their brain sharp!

Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge. Proverbs 18:15

#7

I pray that my kids will live a healthy lifestyle.

Life moves fast and it is easy to take shortcuts. But there is no shortcut for proper nutrition and exercise. We have worked to instill in our kids the benefits of filling your body with good food and the consequences if you fill it with “non-food”. (Don’t worry, we’re far from perfect but trying hard!) The benefits of a healthy lifestyle will serve them well as they age.

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

#8

I pray that my kids will know how to manage their money properly.

I hope they live a lifestyle that fits within their means and do not overextend themselves by relying exclusively on credit. I hope they do not place all of their joy in the “things” they accumulate but instead in the people and experiences in their lives.

But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Luke 14:28

#9

I pray that my kids will appreciate spending time outdoors.

I hope my kids will understand the tremendous benefits of sunlight for the body (and soul) and be able to unplug and enjoy life and the beauty surrounding them.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

#10

And finally, I pray that my kids will always know where their home is.

I hope they see our home as a place they can rest, rejuvenate, and most important, feel loved and cherished. And I hope they visit. Often. Because this mama will most likely have a very hard time letting go.

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3

What do you have to add to my list? I’d love to hear!

Until Next Time,

Neko

  1. These are great! I have similar prayers for my kiddos about faith, their spouses, and friendships, but I hadn’t thought about money, the outdoors and knowing where home is. Love those! I also pray that God protects my kids’ purity in what they see, hear and in their social situations.
